Goddess Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and fortune. On Diwali night (Amavasya of Kartik month), people worship Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Ganesha and Lord Kubera for blessings of wealth and happiness.
Step-by-Step Lakshmi Poojan Vidhi
1. Purification & Setup
- Clean and decorate the house with rangoli, flowers, and lights.
- Place a wooden platform (chowki) and cover it with a red or yellow cloth.
- Install the idols/pictures of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Kubera.
2. Kalash Sthapana
- Fill a Kalash (copper/brass pot) with water, betel nut, coin, and grains.
- Place mango leaves on top and cover with a coconut.
- Draw a Swastik on it with kumkum and tie red thread.
3. Invoke Lord Ganesha
- Worship Lord Ganesha first as he is the remover of obstacles.
- Offer flowers, modaks, and chant Ganesh mantras.
4. Lakshmi Pooja
- Offer a red cloth, kumkum, haldi, flowers, and lotus to Goddess Lakshmi.
- Place coins and currency notes in front of her.
- Recite Lakshmi Aarti, Lakshmi Chalisa, or Shri Sukta.
- Offer sweets (kheer, laddoo) as bhog.
5. Kubera Pooja
- Lord Kubera is worshipped for wealth management and prosperity.
- Offer rice, flowers, and incense.
6. Lighting of Diyas
- Light 11 or 21 diyas with ghee or oil around the house.
- Keep one diya burning overnight in the puja area for blessings.
7. Aarti & Prasad
- Perform Aarti of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
- Distribute prasad (sweets & fruits) among family and guests.
